I have never been comfortable with announcements. For years I assumed this was a weakness — that a founder who does not promote himself is leaving growth on the table. I no longer believe that.

Where I grew up, the people who were respected were not the ones who talked about their work. They were the ones whose fields were in order in a bad year. Reputation was something other people said about you, never something you said about yourself.

The case for quiet

Building quietly has three practical advantages that I have watched play out across NovaSpark Digital and Meridian Trade Exports.

First, it filters your clients. People who find you through results rather than noise tend to be the people who value results over noise.

Second, it protects your judgment. The moment you begin performing success, you start making decisions for the audience instead of the business.

Third, it keeps you honest. It is very hard to overstate your progress to people who are simply watching what you actually deliver.

I'd rather build quietly and let the results speak. If they have nothing to say, I have work to do.

This website is, I admit, a small departure from the principle. I have made it because people kept asking the same questions. Consider it the ledger, not the advertisement.
